Type “moi oxomiiya” in English letters and get অসমীয়া as you press space, with the Assamese letters ৰ and ৱ built in.

Example: moi oxomiiya → মই অসমীয়া · runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.
01 · How Assamese typing works
Assamese shares the Bengali–Assamese Unicode block but spells r as ৰ and w as ৱ. This page uses the same keys as the Bengali page for the shared letters and swaps in those two, plus x for the Assamese স sound.
Every r is the Assamese ৰ (not Bengali র), and w or v is ৱ.
The Assamese “x” sound is usually written স, so x gives স. Use sh for শ and S for ষ where the spelling needs them.
As on the Bengali page, a medial o writes nothing and capital O is the ও/ো sound.
.N gives the chandrabindu ঁ.
Press space, Enter or a punctuation mark and the word you typed turns into Assamese. Pasted text is converted word by word.
Roman letters can be read several ways. The chips list known words first, then single-letter alternatives. Press 1–5 or tap.
Toggle plain English for names, URLs and numbers. Backspace right after a conversion gives your letters back.
02 · Spelling ambiguity
Assamese shares Bengali typing keys but uses ৰ and ৱ, writes x for the স sound, and distinguishes ি from ী in common words. Every pair below was run through the typing engine when the page was built, and a test checks each one.
x and s both give স (so xob and sob are the same word); sh gives শ.
A medial o writes nothing. Capital O is the ো vowel sign.
ii is the long ী.
Typed oxomiya and got অসমিয়া
Meant অসমীয়া
Type oxomiiya: the standard spelling has a long ী. The suggestion chip offers it too.
Typed namaskar and got নামাস্কাৰ
Meant নমস্কাৰ
Type nomoskar: in Assamese typing the inherent o is silent, so write o rather than a for the short vowels.
Typed mOi and got মোই
Meant মই
Type moi: a capital O adds the ো sign; the pronoun needs the plain o. The suggestion chip offers it too.

04 · Sample words
Each pair was run through the engine when this page was built. The keystrokes shown are exact; casual spellings (shorter, without the double vowels) usually reach the same word through the chips.
05 · FAQ
The engine is the same. The differences are ৰ and ৱ for r and w, x for স, and য় at the end of words such as অসমীয়া. Bengali র and ব are not produced by default.
The suggestion list is built from Assamese Wikipedia word counts, so it covers encyclopedia vocabulary better than casual speech. Treat the suggestions as help, not a spell checker.
Click in the box and type each word the way it sounds, for example “moi oxomiiya”. When you press space or a punctuation key the word becomes Assamese (মই অসমীয়া). The chips above the box list other spellings; press 1–5 or tap one to swap it in.
Right after a word converts, press Backspace once to get your English letters back and edit them, or press Ctrl+Z, or tap “Undo word”. You can also tap another chip before pressing space. Switch with Ctrl+Space when you want plain English.
No. The conversion runs in your browser. The page downloads one small word-list file from this site so it can suggest spellings; what you type is never sent. The text is kept in this tab’s session storage so a refresh does not lose it, and it disappears when you close the tab.
It is built for touch screens: big tappable chips, and the conversion waits until your keyboard has finished its own word so predictive keyboards do not fight it. If your phone keyboard autocorrects Roman words before this page sees them, turn off auto-correct for this site or use the suggestion chips.
Yes: Copy puts the Assamese text on the clipboard, and the download buttons save a .txt or a Word .docx. The text is standard Unicode, so it pastes into WhatsApp, Gmail, Word and Google Docs.
