DevLys 010 is another Devanagari ASCII font from the DTP era. Like Kruti Dev, it is typed on a Remington-style Hindi layout and stores Devanagari as English letters, so a DevLys document looks like gibberish (“fgUnh”) on any device without the font.
It is easy to mistake DevLys for Kruti Dev: the common letters and many keys line up. But several conjuncts, punctuation marks and special glyphs sit on different keys, which is why swapping the font name on a document often leaves a handful of wrong characters instead of fixing it.
A few glyph mappings were corrected after an entry-by-entry check against IIT Delhi’s InDesignFontConverters and KrutiExtract, two open-source converters. That check covered selected glyphs only, not the whole IIT table.
