Why a table, not a formula.
Each month has 29 to 32 days and the pattern differs every year, so a converter has to carry the official month lengths. These are the years around today.

Questions about Nepali dates
How do I convert an AD date to a BS (Nepali) date?

What is today’s Nepali date?

Why can’t this be calculated with a formula?
Months in the Bikram Sambat calendar have 29, 30, 31 or 32 days, and the length of each month is set every year from astronomical calculations in the official panchang. There is no simple rule, so every converter relies on a table of month lengths published by the calendar authorities.
Which years are supported?
BS 2000 to 2090 (14 April 1943 to 13 April 2034). Month lengths for later years have not been officially published, and the open datasets disagree about them, so the converter reports a range error rather than guessing.
Why is BS ahead of AD?
The Bikram Sambat era starts in 57 BC, so BS is roughly 56 years and 8 months ahead of AD. The BS year changes in mid-April (Baisakh 1), so before that date the offset is 57 years and after it 56.
Is Saturday the weekly holiday in Nepal?
Yes. Nepal’s weekly holiday is Saturday (शनिबार), which the calendar view marks in red.
