Word file font converter
Move legacy Indic text in DOCX documents to Unicode while keeping tables, images and styling. Free conversion, right in your browser. Inspect fonts first, review the report, then download.
01 · How it works
From legacy font to Unicode, inside the file.
Choose a file, conversion direction and output font. Inspect fonts to see the pre-run report. Conversion runs in a background worker; review its diagnostics and text previews before sharing the download. Keep your original.
Word text converts wherever it is: body, nested tables, headers and footers of every section, footnotes, endnotes, comments, text boxes, WordArt, content controls and their drop-down items, tracked insertions and deletions, hyperlink and field results, list numbering set in a legacy font, SmartArt and chart titles. Fonts are resolved slot by slot through character, paragraph and table styles, document defaults and theme fonts. Words that Word split into several runs (editing history, spell-check marks, bookmarks) convert as whole words, so the ि matra and the reph land in the right place.
Not converted, by design or because the data is not there: field instructions (only their visible results change), sheet names and defined names, pivot-table caches, embedded objects and the data inside embedded charts, equations, and pictures of text. Styles keep their original font names; converted text gets the new font directly. Every part of the file keeps its exact contents outside the converted text and its font, size and language settings. The converter is checked against a corpus of deliberately messy test documents, and the converted files are opened in LibreOffice to confirm they load and read correctly.

02 · FAQ
Questions about Office conversion
Are files uploaded?
No. Office files are read and converted on your device in a worker. Nothing is uploaded.
Does formatting stay intact?
Untouched package parts keep their original bytes. Text and font edits preserve surrounding formatting, but new font metrics can change line breaks and fit. Review the output.
Which file versions work?
DOCX, XLSX and PPTX, including macro-enabled and template versions (.docm, .xlsm, .pptm, .dotx and similar). Old .doc, .xls and .ppt files, RTF and OpenDocument files must be saved in the newer format first: open them in Office or LibreOffice and use File → Save As. The converter tells you which format a file really is, even if it was renamed. Password-protected files are unsupported.
Will Hindi stay bold and the same size in Word?
Yes. Word formats Devanagari as complex script, using separate bold, italic and size settings. The converter copies the bold, italic and size the legacy text was shown with onto those settings, so headings stay bold and large.
Can I force a source font?
Yes. An override interprets all eligible text in that encoding, including English. Auto mode is safer for mixed-font files.
