Tool
Which font is this?
Got a document that shows up as Hkkjr or Avwg? Paste a piece of it and find out which legacy font wrote it, then convert it with one click.
Analysed in your browser. The text is never sent anywhere.
Waiting for a clue
Paste some garbled text and I’ll tell you which font wrote it.
Choose a sample beside the input, or paste a sentence from your document.
How it works
An educated guess, shown honestly.
Legacy fonts don’t label their text, so detection is a heuristic. We’d rather show you the evidence than a single confident answer.
- 01
Convert with every font
Your text is run through each supported profile. A wrong profile still produces something, so this alone proves nothing.
- 02
Score what comes out
We check how much of the output lands in the right script and penalise impossible sequences, such as two vowel signs in a row.
- 03
Rule out the obvious
Plain English prose and text that is already Unicode are recognised first, so they don’t get mislabelled as a legacy font.
- 04
Rank, don’t declare
You get a ranked list with a confidence bar and a live preview of each result, so your own eyes make the final call.
When it can’t tell
- Very short text. A word or two may fit several fonts equally well.
- Fonts that share a layout. Kruti Dev and DevLys agree on most keys. If your text only uses those, no tool can separate them. Read the font name in the original file.
- Mixed documents. Paste one language and one font at a time, or use the Word file converter, which reads the font of each run.
- Fonts we don’t support yet. The “Fonts it knows” list is complete: if a font isn’t on it, the detector can’t name it.
