01 · How Telugu typing works
Telugu separates short and long e and o (ఎ/ఏ, ఒ/ఓ), so the keys do: lower-case e and o are short, capital E and O are long. A word-final consonant gets a visible halant (రమ్), and a final m after a longer word is the ం sign.
Lower-case e and o are the short vowels ఎ ఒ. Capital E and O are the long ఏ ఓ, so prEma is ప్రేమ.
ee also gives ఈ. ii and uu give ఈ and ఊ.
n or m before a consonant becomes ం (iMTi). A final m in a word of two or more vowels is ం too, so namaskaaram ends in ం.
Telugu writes a bare final consonant with a virama, so ram is రమ్. Add an a to get the open syllable.
Capital T, D, N, L are ట డ ణ ళ.
Press space, Enter or a punctuation mark and the word you typed turns into Telugu. Pasted text is converted word by word.
Roman letters can be read several ways. The chips list known words first, then single-letter alternatives. Press 1–5 or tap.
Toggle plain English for names, URLs and numbers. Backspace right after a conversion gives your letters back.
02 · Spelling ambiguity
Telugu distinguishes short and long e and o, so a lower-case or capital letter changes the word; doubled consonants and the final halant are the other common traps. Every pair below was run through the typing engine when the page was built, and a test checks each one.
Lower-case e is short (ఎ, ె) and capital E is long (ఏ, ే).
aa is the long ా.
Type the doubled letter twice.
A bare final consonant keeps its virama.

05 · FAQ
Telugu a and ā are different letters, and the final a is short, so write aa where the long sign is needed (naanna → నాన్న). The suggestion chips try both and the word list picks known words.
About 3,000 words, from subtitle word counts. It is small, so names and rarer words use the rules alone.
Use the ANU to Unicode converter linked below.
Click in the box and type each word the way it sounds, for example “telugu bhaaSha”. When you press space or a punctuation key the word becomes Telugu (తెలుగు భాష). The chips above the box list other spellings; press 1–5 or tap one to swap it in.
Right after a word converts, press Backspace once to get your English letters back and edit them, or press Ctrl+Z, or tap “Undo word”. You can also tap another chip before pressing space. Switch with Ctrl+Space when you want plain English.
No. The conversion runs in your browser. The page downloads one small word-list file from this site so it can suggest spellings; what you type is never sent. The text is kept in this tab’s session storage so a refresh does not lose it, and it disappears when you close the tab.
It is built for touch screens: big tappable chips, and the conversion waits until your keyboard has finished its own word so predictive keyboards do not fight it. If your phone keyboard autocorrects Roman words before this page sees them, turn off auto-correct for this site or use the suggestion chips.
Yes: Copy puts the Telugu text on the clipboard, and the download buttons save a .txt or a Word .docx. The text is standard Unicode, so it pastes into WhatsApp, Gmail, Word and Google Docs.
