01 · About the font

DV-TTGanesh, in plain words.

DV-TT Ganesh legacy Devanagari conversion (experimental).

The mapping comes from Padma, an open-source transliteration project. The same table covers the DV-TT Ganesh, Yogesh and Surekh faces listed under Font names.

DV-TTGanesh (as stored)

¦ÉÉ®iÉ Ê¶ÉIÉÉ |Éä¨É

Unicode (converted by this page)

भारत शिक्षा प्रेम

This sample is converted with the same engine as the tool above, when this page was built, and matches the expected text exactly.

02 · On phones and the web

Make your DV-TTGanesh text work everywhere

Legacy text only looks like Hindi on a computer that has DV-TTGanesh installed. Everywhere else (phones, WhatsApp, websites, search results) it appears as English letters like “¦ÉÉ®iÉ”. Converting to Unicode fixes that for good.

  1. Paste the text

Copy the garbled-looking text from your document and paste it above, or drop a .txt file onto the box. For Word files with tables and formatting, use the Word file converter instead.

  2. Check the preview

The Unicode result appears as you type, drawn in a Hindi font. Anything the converter couldn’t map with confidence is highlighted so you can fix it by hand.

  3. Copy it anywhere

Paste into WhatsApp, Gmail, Google Docs or your website’s editor. Unicode needs no font installed, because phones and browsers already ship one for Hindi.

  4. Pick a Unicode font

Use Mangal or Noto Sans Devanagari for the Unicode result.

Have a whole document instead of a paragraph? The Word file converter keeps tables, bold text and layout.

03 · Output font

Set the output font in MS Word or Google Docs

Unicode text is real Hindi, so any Hindi-capable font will display it. Pick one that looks good for your document.

Microsoft Word

  1. 1Paste the converted text, then press Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on Mac) to select everything.
  2. 2On the Home tab, click the font box, type “Mangal” and press Enter.
  3. 3Optional: Review → Language → Set Proofing Language → Hindi, so spell-check does not underline everything.
  4. 4If the text still shows boxes, install a Unicode font that covers the script, such as Noto Sans Devanagari.

Google Docs

  1. 1Paste the converted text and select it with Ctrl+A.
  2. 2Open the font menu → More fonts, search for “Noto Sans Devanagari” (or Noto Serif Devanagari) and add it.
  3. 3Apply the font. Because the text is Unicode, it also copies cleanly into Gmail, Sheets and Slides.

05 · Known limits

What to watch for.

  • Single-source mapping; check the converted text against the original document.
  • Only the font names listed on this page are covered, and no fluent reader or font-file check has confirmed the mapping.
  • Padma’s own parser skips the full-form ग़ slot (NÉ) that its table declares; this converter uses the table entry.

Experimental: this mapping comes from a single source and has not been confirmed by an independent converter. Compare the result with your original document, because other versions of the font may differ. Round trip: we converted 50,757 Devanagari test strings (word-list words, sentences, and every consonant, vowel sign, conjunct, reph and nukta combination) to DV-TTGanesh and back. 50,756 came back exactly; the other one contains a character DV-TTGanesh has no glyph for, which the converter flags. See the accuracy page for every difference.

06 · FAQ

Questions about DV-TT Ganesh to Unicode

Is my DV-TTGanesh text uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs as JavaScript in your browser, so your text never leaves your device. Once the page has loaded, it works offline too.

Which font should I use after converting DV-TTGanesh to Unicode?

Use Mangal or Noto Sans Devanagari for the Unicode result. Unicode text is not tied to one font, so you can switch typeface later without converting again.

How accurate is the DV-TTGanesh converter?

Treat the result as a draft. The mapping is experimental: it comes from a single source and no independent converter has confirmed it, so compare the output with your original document. The sample on this page converts exactly as expected. No fluent-speaker review has been done, so read important text before you print or submit it.
