DevLys keyboard: type Hindi, get Unicode
Type with the DevLys 010 keys and get Unicode Hindi as you go. DevLys and Kruti Dev share most keys, and this page lists exactly where they differ.

Dashed keys depend on position. Faded keys are not mapped by this font. Hold Shift on your keyboard to see the upper layer.
01 · How the layout works
How the DevLys layout works.
DevLys 010 uses the Hindi typewriter (Remington-style) arrangement, the same family of layouts as Kruti Dev 010. Most keys give the same letters in both fonts. The differences are on a handful of keys and in the extended characters, which is why text typed in one font and shown in the other can look nearly right and still have a wrong letter.

Type the keys, get the word
Most letters are one key. For example, DevLys spells भारत with the keys shown here.
Hkkjrभारत
- 02
◌ि is typed before the letter
Some vowel signs are typed first and the letter after, the way they look on paper. The converter puts them after the letter in Unicode.
fdकि
- 03
Reph (र्) is typed after the letter
Type the letter, then Z; the converter moves the reph in front of the letter in Unicode.
dZर्क
- 04
Shift gives half letters
Many shifted keys give the half form used in conjuncts. E on its own is म्, so Ed makes a conjunct.
Edम्क
- 05
52 characters are off the keyboard
The font also uses characters outside the plain keys: conjunct glyphs and extra signs, typed with Alt codes or a keyboard driver in the real font. Open “more characters” under the keys to add them.

05 · FAQ
Questions about the DevLys keyboard
Is DevLys 010 the same as Kruti Dev 010?
Very close, but not identical. The table above lists the keys that give a different letter, and the extended characters (for example the conjunct glyphs typed with Alt codes) differ more. If a document uses DevLys, convert it with the DevLys converter, not the Kruti Dev one.
Do I need the DevLys font installed?
No. This page turns your keystrokes into Unicode Hindi as you type, which displays everywhere without any special font. You only need DevLys installed if you copy the raw keystrokes (“Copy keys”) into a document set in DevLys.
Can I use this on a phone?
Yes. Tap the on-screen keys. Each key shows the Hindi letter it types, and dashed keys depend on position.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. The last text you typed is kept only in this tab’s session storage so a refresh doesn’t lose it.
