01 · How the layout works
How the Shree-Dev layout works.
Shree-Dev 0714 (part of the Shree-Lipi family) puts a large share of its letters and conjuncts on characters outside the normal keys. In the real font those come from a keyboard driver or Alt codes. This page therefore shows two things: what the normal keys type, and a tray of every extended character with its Unicode meaning, so you can build a word by clicking.

Type the keys, get the word
Most letters are one key. For example, Shree-Dev spells सरकार with the keys shown here.
gaHmaसरकार
- 02
◌िं is typed before the letter
Some vowel signs are typed first and the letter after, the way they look on paper. Keys like q, p, [, { work this way here. The converter puts them after the letter in Unicode.
qHकिं
- 03
109 characters are off the keyboard
The font also uses characters outside the plain keys: conjunct glyphs and extra signs, typed with Alt codes or a keyboard driver in the real font. Open “more characters” under the keys to add them.

Common words, and their keystrokes.
Type the keys in the box above and check you get the word. Each pair was generated and checked by the converter when this page was built. “Try” puts the keystrokes in the box.

Some keystrokes include characters that are not on the keyboard (they look like symbols or accented letters). In the real font these come from Alt codes or a keyboard driver; “Try” inserts them for you, and the “more characters” tray lists them all.
04 · FAQ
Questions about the Shree-Dev keyboard
Why does a normal Marathi word need so many extended characters?
Shree-Dev 0714 stores most letters and half-letters in the extended part of the font. The practice words below show the exact characters, and “Try” puts a word in the box so you can see what it converts to.
What is the easiest way to get Shree-Dev text?
Type the Marathi in Unicode with any Marathi keyboard (for example the Marathi InScript keyboard here) and convert it with the Unicode to Shree-Dev converter. This page is for checking and entering existing Shree-Dev text.
Do I need the Shree-Dev font installed?
No. This page turns your keystrokes into Unicode Marathi as you type, which displays everywhere without any special font. You only need Shree-Dev installed if you copy the raw keystrokes (“Copy keys”) into a document set in Shree-Dev.
Can I use this on a phone?
Yes. Tap the on-screen keys. Each key shows the Marathi letter it types, and dashed keys depend on position.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. The last text you typed is kept only in this tab’s session storage so a refresh doesn’t lose it.
